FEBRUARY 2022 NWCZ RADIO BAND OF THE MONTH: SOLICITOR

Trevor Jastad Audio, Music

This is the music you ride out to battle to. An intense clash of thrash and speed metal guitar carried by precision drumming and topped by the piercing screeches of Amy lee Carlson’s voice to make uncompromising raw heavy metal the way it was intended. Solicitor draws from an 80’s heavy metal influence but the band is far from a rehash of nostalgia. No edges have been dulled in the making of this music. Solicitor’s style brings a much-needed balance to the current sound in the Pacific Northwest that I don’t see a lot of the newer bands touching. Check out the band’s latest 7” that they released at the end of January. Titled “All Debts On Death” https://solicitor-speedmetal.bandcamp.com/

2021 A YEAR IN NORTHWEST HARDCORE BY DEAD AIR HARCORE RADIO

Trevor Jastad Audio, Music

When it comes to Northwest Hardcore I think it’s like anything, it means many different things to different people depending on when and where they first were introduced. For me, northwest hardcore was always listening to Dead Air on KGRG, Going To Rainfest, Seeing my friend’s bands getting recognized for the cool stuff they do in and outside of the northwest. There are always peaks and valleys but I truly believe there are amazing things currently happening in northwest hardcore still, especially this current year. The beginning of 2020 brought a promise of the resurgence of tours coming through the Puget Sound area thanks to the help of Brain Stem Productions and after 18 months of no live shows, we …

NWCZ RADIO’S TOP PNW RECORDS AND SONGS OF 2021

Trevor Jastad Audio, NWCZ Radio News

As I take the reigns here at NWCZ Radio I never want to forget about the Pacific Northwest and its diverse local music scene. As someone who spent most of their teen and adult life in the northwest hardcore and punk scene, I know it is very hard to keep track of some of the other music scenes growing around you. My time in independent radio has shown me that. 2021 was a year unlike any other patiently awaiting the aftermath of nationwide lockdowns and waiting for the moment to finally gather once again to enjoy and support live music. During that period a lot of music of all genres was unleashed onto the pnw and our music desk and …

Adam Ant Kings Of The Wild Frontier, Live 2017

Darrell Fortune Uncategorised

Adam Ant Kings Of The Wild Frontier, Live 2017 w/The Glam Skanks Adam Ant blew the roof off the Neptune Friday night, where he played his Kings of the Wild Frontier album start to finish to a capacity crowd. After he was done with that, he rolled straight into other favorites like Goody Two Shoes and Prince Charming. He even threw in a Get It On cover during the encore. Everyone was there start to finish & sang along with every song. Adam hand-picked the Glam Skanks as a direct support show for the tour. They’re an all-girl rock band from the west-coast and they did an awesome, bang-up job! With short skirts & tons of glitter, they were as …

A Fire Inside (rocks) the Showbox!

Darrell Fortune On Scene

The Blood Tour 1.25.17 AFI w/Souvenirs and The Chain Gang of 1974 Last Wednesday the Showbox had A Fire Inside (Get it? A Fire Inside the Showbox? AFI? That’s funny!), along with some Souvenirs and The Chain Gang of 1974. All these bands played to a sold out crowd that was ready to rock. Everyone was there to see AFI, but gave a great Seattle welcome to the Souvenirs and The Chain Gang of 1974, both out of Southern California with different styles of music that meshed well together. The show started out kinda slow with the Souvenirs mellow rock, but picked up speed pretty quick with The Chain Gang. Then went from zero to a hundred in about .1 seconds …
